Esteban Escamilla is an agronomist and research professor at the Autonomous University of Chapingo. He holds a masters degree and a doctorate in tropical agroecosystem sciences. Teacher, managing director of CERTIMEX SC, advisor and coffee producer.
Among the many studies carried out by the producer of this microlot, Dr. Esteban Escamilla, elaborated an integral study of the agroecosystem of organic coffee in Mexico, with the objective of determining the influence of environmental, genetic, agroeconomic and social factors on the physical and sensory quality of coffee produced by coffee organizations distributed in the regions of Chiapas, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Puebla and Guerrero. This research emphasizes the importance of coffee in Mexico and its complex problems. Due to the growing demand in the market, specialty coffees represent a great opportunity for producers to access better prices and to continue using coffee as an axis of community and regional development.
Dr. Esteban is personally in charge of the cultivation and harvest of his coffee, putting into practice his knowledge in sustainable coffee growers. Concerned about the environment, he collects water used for washing cherries in lagoons. The water is sedimented and reused.
